Trees as crops

I guess it is pretty hard for some people to think of the trees in a forest as a crop to be harvested. There is no doubt that a fresh clear-cut, or even one that is 10 years old may not be what we think of as a beautiful sight. But neither is a freshly harvested field of grain. The difference is that the grain is replanted in the spring and is full grown and “beautiful” in a few months whereas the forest will not be ready to harvest again for about 80 years.
