The White Salmon City Council is again looking to fill an open position on the five-member council.
Council member Timi Keene recently moved to Bingen, and as a result is no longer eligible to serve on White Salmon's council.
Keene sent a brief statement to Mayor David Poucher to make her resignation official, and Poucher read her letter at the beginning of the Oct. 15 council meeting.
"This letter serves to tender my resignation from the White Salmon City Council, Pos. No. 4," read Keene's letter.
Keene was elected to the council in 2005. She beat incumbent Susan Gookin for a four-year term in the November general election that year.
The city of White Salmon is now actively seeking a replacement to serve on the council. Those interested in joining the City Council are asked to submit a letter of interest to White Salmon City Hall. The deadline is Friday, Oct. 31.
To qualify, a candidate must be a registered voter and must have been a resident of the city of White Salmon for at least one year. The letter should include a statement that the person chosen is willing to serve for the remainder of Keene's council term -- at least until November 2009.
The remaining four members of the council will interview prospective candidates and appoint a new council member after that process. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for the Nov. 5 regular meeting of the City Council.
For more information, call City Hall at 493-1133.
