The fall book discussion series at the White Salmon Valley Community library continues with the October selection, The Wild Trees: A Story of Passion and Daring by Richard Preston.
Copies of the book are now available at the library's front desk for participants to pick up.
The book will be discussed on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 3:30 p.m. in the library's Sprint/Baker Gallery.
The Wild Trees tells of the true story of a small group of botanists and amateur naturalists who discover the complex and at the time largely unexplored world in the canopies of the coast redwood trees.
As described by the publishers this is "a work of cutting-edge science, heart-pounding adventure, and deep passion, Preston's amazing account shows us that the Earth still holds great wonders to be discovered."
The library's fall book discussion series will continue monthly through December. Other titles and discussion dates will be The White Cascade: The Great Northern Railway Disaster and America's Deadliest Avalanche by Gary Krist on Nov. 17; and The Soloist: A Lost Dream, An Unlikely Friendship, and the Redemptive Power of Music by Steve Lopez on Dec. 15.
The program is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
