Week six of the Gorge Youth Football League schedule found both White Salmon teams on the road last Saturday: the Red Raiders in Hood River, the Black Knights at Dufur, Ore.
However, neither squad could find the end zone in losing 28-0 and 20-0 respectively.
At Hood River Green 28, White Salmon Red 0:
Hood River scored a touchdown in every quarter en route to the victory.
Offensive standouts for White Salmon included Cody Gromes, Erik Anderson, Chase Ogden, Dustin Corner and Jose Morera.
Defensively, Justice Douthit, Jabal Gilbert and Jordan McClain shined for the Red Raiders (0-4).
In fifth quarter action, Tanner Rabinowitz scored on a 60-yard run for White Salmon. Hayden Gromes, Bryan Schmid and Jake Walker also played well in the extra period.
At Dufur 20, White Salmon Black 0:
A big, strong, hard-hitting Dufur squad handed the Black Knights their second loss in four starts.
Dufur crossed the goal line once in each of the first two quarters and led 14-0 at halftime. It added a touchdown in the fourth.
For White Salmon, Jared Garwood stood out in the running game, carrying the load after Nathan Bell went out early with an injury. Ryan Aldrich and Tom Crumpacker also turned in strong games, according to team coaches.
On defense, Aldrich, Mason Kitchen and Bryce Wilkins recorded fumble recoveries. Top tacklers for the Red Raiders included Garwood, Alrich, Bryce Wilkins, Kyle Wilins and Ben Vollema.

The Black Knights will take on Hood River Blue, and the Red Raiders will face The Dalles White this Saturday at Sid White Field in The Dalles, Ore. Game times are 10 and 11:30 a.m. respectively.
