The communities in the area served by the Mt. Adams Chamber of Commerce could not function without the tremendous efforts of many of our citizens of all ages.
The chamber's annual awards ceremony is one way of recognizing and honoring these generous people. There are four awards given each year honoring our Citizen of the Year, Outstanding Youth Recognition Award, Business Person of the Year and Lifetime Service Award. Nominations are now being accepted for these awards.
Past honorees for Lifetime Service Award are Gary Lawson and Al Strunk (2001); Paul Runyan (2000); Norm Bargabus (1999); Herman and Leona Donley (1998); Wayne Carlock (1997); Francis and Mamie Gaddis (1996); Ralph and Margaret Boyden (1995); Keith McCoy (1994); Hermalinda Archuleta (1993); Ron Logan (1992) and Mary Wang (1991).
Past honorees for Citizen of the Year include: Jennifer Hull, Catherine Butler, Karen Strain, Sharon Harmsen, Heather Weisfield, Alan Carlock, Alan Patrick, Kirby Richards, Brenda Herman, Norm Clatterbuck and Tom Smith.
Outstanding Youth recipients include Justin and Tyler Vance, Molly McNab, Amy Stein, Cathy Charters, John Krenz, Jennifer Havig, Melissa Schmid, Gretchen Elsner, Jeff Havig and Bill Welch.
Business Person of the Year awards have been presented to Erin Anderson, Steve Wolford and Pam Morneault.
Nomination forms are available at all area banks, city offices Runyan's Jewelry and the chamber office.
Nominations must be postmarked no later than January 3, 2003.
Awards will be presented at the chamber's annual banquet at The Elkhorn on January 25, 2003.
The evening's events will include entertainment by the duo "Lone Coyote" with Roger and Diane Gadway, a no-host bar and a silent auction with donated items from many of our area businesses.
