The Lyle Community Council is a-buzz with plans for the coming months. The entire February meeting will be devoted to speakers from Washington and Oregon to advise local communities on procedures now in place in the event of a disaster. They will give us information on how to handle emergency situations. We urge you, the public, to mark your calendars and attend this very important and informative meeting. This concerns all of you and we need your cooperation in putting an emergency action plan together for Lyle.
In March, we look forward to the First Chili Cookoff, a competition among the county volunteer fire departments. This will be a public fundraiser for the fire departments and the Lyle Community Council. HOT STUFF!!!!!! Please help us make this a success.
Lyle's Annual Spring Clean-Up Days will be held the weekend of April 12 and 13. Since the beginning of this event, we have filled 17 large dumpsters with Lyles' disposables. How many will we fill this year? Let's see if we can set a record. We will continue to remind you of these dates.
The Lyle Community Council has made the decision that they will not be a policing organization. If concerned citizens have complaints about any health or nuisance problems, it need to be reported directly to the proper county department. A complaint can be made anonymously, one complaint is sufficient for a health concern to be investigated and two for a nuisance complaint. With Lyle now included in the Dog Ordinance the county can act upon those complaints also. This means that you need to keep your dogs confined as people are tired of having their garbage drug and scattered all over by dogs.
"Kilroy was here!" Coming in March.

Lyle History: From a book titled "History of Klickitat County" 1982, published by Klickitat Historical Society.
Van Corfix Sorensen -- Van and Edith were among the first on High Prairie to buy a family car, a Maxwell, which they enjoyed. They were short of water for the home and live stock. Van solved that problem by having a deep well drilled (nearly 800 ft) which supplied all the water needed with help of a gasoline engine and deep well pump.
Hang out with cheerful friends......the grouches pull you down.
