Last week, state officials in Missouri removed Confederate flags flying at two historical Civil War sites.

Flags were removed at the Confederate Memorial Historic Site in Higginsville as well as the Fort Davidson Historic Site. Why? Apparently because U.S. Rep. Dick Gephardt, a Missouri Democrat who is running for president in 2004, recently said the following: "My own personal feeling is that the Confederate flag no longer has a place flying any time, anywhere in our great nation."
