A rainy sunrise service of the Methodist Church was held at Barbara Sexton's house. Then the congregation enjoyed a wonderful breakfast cooked by the men of the church. But, the highlight of the day was the welcoming of five new members into the congregation. Four joined and one transferred her membership from another church.

Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9, will be the Annual Community Clean-up. There are some changes this year -- if you need a bag to put your trash in they will be available at the Lion's Club Breakfast on April 2. If you miss this event, you can call Joy Collins at 365-5102 or e-mail her at ojoy@gorge.net and bags will be delivered to you. Also call her if you need help with trash bags picked up and she will add you to the list. There will be a truck to receive your scrap metal on site.
Churches in Lyle are United Methodist, 403 Klickitat St, and Lyle Celebration Center, 715 Washington St. Sunday, April 3, is Humor Sunday at Lyle United Methodist and everyone will bring a joke to share.

"Lillian enjoys the bookkeeping for the business and learned most of it right on the job. "And, of course, it's so much better now that Wendy and Bill are a part of our double couple team and she does the posting for each day's receipts. Baby-sitting costs for Eric, five, and Lori Beth, three and one-half, come out of the business."
"I guess you just have to say that I really enjoy the day to day friendly contacts with people as they drop in at the station, Lillian said. "Our life is nothing big or spectacular. But, on the other hand, there's never a dull moment either, for, as the people drop in, just for a friendly chat, or to get some little item of plumbing needs, or bolts, or screws, we just feel in warm, personal touch with them. And we are a thousand times thankful that we don't have to live and work in a big impersonal city. Life is really good in Lyle."
