Jenny Sutter' reading Jan. 8-9

Please join CAST on Jan. 8, at 7:30 p.m. and/or Jan. 9, at 2 p.m. for Wine and Word - a staged reading of "Welcome Home, Jenny Sutter," by Julie Marie Myatt. These two performances are being offer at Columbia Center for the Arts, 215 Cascade Ave. in Hood River. There is no charge for admission but donations are appreciated. In the play, Jenny Sutter, a US marine who lost part of a leg in a suicide bombing, is just back from Iraq. Her two small children have been living with Jenny's mother. But Jenny is not ready to go home. She feels guilty about the circumstance of her injury, and she wonders how her family will see her now. The play is a kind of tutorial for what many Americans face today, but it's not a downer, nor is Jenny's disability treated morbidly. The play portrays a critical aspect of a war that's not over yet. Military personnel are encouraged to attend.
