For years, our community has worked towards the vision of a revitalized community pool where kids can learn to swim safely, seniors can stay active, and families can gather. Today, I’m excited to share that this dream is within reach — funding is nearly 70% — and now is the time to jump in together and build the pool.
The project numbers:
Total construction cost: $8.4 million
Raised so far: $5.76 million
Remaining: $2.64 million
The work so far
This milestone didn’t happen overnight. Since the district was established in 2019, commissioners, volunteers, and partners have completed the full design process, finalized construction documents, and navigated a host of required studies and permits — including traffic and cultural reviews, a conditional use permit, SEPA permit, and state health permitting. Along the way, we’ve had to update cost estimates as inflation and construction realities shifted: $5.2 million in 2021, $6.7 million in 2022, $7.2 million in 2023, and now $8.4 million in 2025. Each adjustment has been met with careful planning, persistence, and problem-solving to keep the project on track.
At the same time, our community has been raising funds from every possible source:
Local support through a levy, pledges from the City of White Salmon, City of Bingen, and Klickitat County.
Private contributions from families and individuals who believe in the vision.
Grants from the WA Recreation Conservation Office, including both Community Outdoor Athletic Facilities and Youth Athletic Facilities programs.
This blend of local, private, and state funding demonstrates the broad base of commitment to the pool.

Why does this project matter?
Because this pool is more than just a place to swim; it is an investment in our community’s future:
A safe place for kids to learn life-saving skills & have fun.
A space for seniors to stay healthy and connected.
A gathering spot where neighbors come together to thrive and make memories for generations.
If we reach 80% of our fundraising goal by the end of 2025, we can break ground in 2026 and keep on track for our target 2027 opening.
