Congratulations are due! Twenty-five students at Lyle Middle School were awarded ice cream sundaes with all the trimmings for reaching their AR (Accelerated Reading) goal for the first quarter. There were two that tied or broke the old record for total points in a quarter. They were Ashley Smith who earned 139 points and Ted Moreland who earned 122 points.

October students of the month were Ashley Smith (Mr. Becker), Lexi Becker (Mrs. Palmer) and Jessica Cochenour and Delsie Herschbach (Mr. Smith.)

The ladies from the Lyle Celebration Center invite all women in the surrounding areas to a Community Christmas Ornament Exchange at the Lyle Community Center on Tuesday, Dec 2, starting at 6:30 p.m. Ladies are asked to bring a gift wrapped ornament and a holiday dessert or snack food. Come and enjoy sharing the evening with old friends and meet new ones. If you have any questions call the church at 365-3971.

Don't forget to pick up and mail your entry form, for the Lyle Community Council's Christmas Lighting contest. The forms are at the local businesses and in the recent Lyle newsletter mailing. The judging will be done on Dec. 22. Let's show the community off for the holidays and make travelers on I-84 wonder, "what is going on over there??"

The Pretenders out did themselves again this year with sold out crowds both evenings. The dinner was superb and the performance was memorable. The sets and costumes were masterpieces as usual. This community abounds with talent. All in all we can only stand, applaud and yell bravo!
