Klickitat County A to Z, a group dedicated to writing a book about Klickitat County, will hold two informational meetings Tuesday, April 27, at the White Salmon Valley Community Library from 3:30-5 p.m., and from 6-7:30 p.m.
Teddy Cole and Ruth Bruns, from the Klickitat County A to Z organization, will be available to explain the project, its background and method, and to show examples of similar books published in other rural places around the Pacific Northwest. The book will consist of brief items in alphabetical order according to topic. Its working title is "Juicy Bits: Klickitat County A to Z."
"Klickitat County has fascinating stories from one end to the other - about places, events, and people -- and we want to collect as many as possible," said Cole, project coordinator. "We are looking for people from the White Salmon Valley who would like to help with this project -- writers, interviewers, artists, photographers, and researchers. It is important that the book reflect every part of our county, from White Salmon to the west, Trout Lake and Bickleton to the north, and Alderdale to the east," she said.
"The book will not replace the 1982 history of Klickitat County," Cole said. "It will be more like appetizers than a full dinner -- hence, the "juicy bits."
Klickitat County A-Z is sponsored by Friends of the Goldendale Library, the Goldendale Community Library, and the Fort Vancouver Regional Library.
