The old saying goes "April showers bring May flowers," but here in Glenwood, August showers bring weddings!
Vicky Miller was honored by friends and family with a wedding shower on Sunday, Aug. 3. She will marry Brian Jones on Sept. 6. Vicky is the daughter of Harry and Chris Miller, and she is a 2000 graduate of Glenwood High School.
Arlie Woodward received shower gifts and best wishes on Aug. 4 prior to her Aug. 9 wedding to Donald James. Arlie also graduated from GHS in 2000, and she is the daughter of Mike and Debbie Woodward.
A bridal shower is planned for Shayne Arnold on Aug. 14 before her Sept. 13 wedding to Jonathon Rickman. Shayne graduated from GHS in 2002, and Ed and Terry Arnold are her parents.
Congratulations and best wishes to each of these young couples for a lifetime of happiness and good health!
The Glenwood Rodeo Association held its third annual playday on July 26 at the rodeo grounds. There was a small turnout of contestants, but everyone had a good time. Contests for the playday included pole bending, keyhole, figure 8, barrel racing and speed barrels. Ribbons were presented through fifth place in each age divisions' events.
The High-point winner in each age division received a saddle rack; reserve high-point was awarded a nylon grooming bag, and third place received a set of nylon gaming reins. Top-point winners in the various age groups were as follows: peewees (ages 10 and under) Samantha Gross, Underwood, first place; Dalton Jones, Glenwood, second place; and Micaela Gutierrez, Goldendale, third place; juniors (ages 11 to 16) Rachel Kipfer, Goldendale, first place; Alix Gutierrez, Goldendale, second place; and Brittany Ingram, Husum, third place; seniors (ages 17 to 39) Hailey Hudson, Goldendale, first place.
