I love sharing great news about our local kids, and this girl is truly special. Emma Patterson, a Glenwood high school sophomore and daughter of Shane and Billie, was recently honored by the Yakama Tribal Council for the great basketball season she had with the Trout Lake Mustangs girls.
CASCADE LOCKS, OR — As the Bridge of the Gods reaches its ninety-eighth year in service connecting the Oregon community of Cascade Locks with Stevenson and North Bonneville in Washington, the Port of Cascade Locks is thinking about its future. Despite its age, the bridge is in good working order and not in need of a full replacement like the Hood River Bridge and the I-5 Interstate Bridge. However, as with any aging piece of infrastructure, the bridge would benefit from a few key upgrades to improve safety and resilience and extend its usable life.
THE GORGE — A 23-person “Road to Victories” team made up of multiple myeloma patients, doctors, family and supporters conquered 250 miles, 13,000 feet of elevation Aug. 21-26 in Oregon, while raising money for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF), a world-recognized leader in cancer research making unprecedented advances in accelerating precision medicine for myeloma patients.
I’d like to share a story about a life well lived. On Saturday, July 29, Glenn and I drove to Prineville to attend a celebration of long-time friend Mike Templeton. Close to 300 guests gathered in Carey Foster Hall at the Crook County fairgrounds, with close to 300 for a memorial for Mike, who passed away in April of this year.
