Artists brown bag it, gather at night

The event continues the Arts Council's programs for area artists and presents professional marketing assistance and advice from several art experts. It will be an opportunity for artists of all media to share creative energy toward developing the business of art.

Registration is $40 for all six Professional Artist Workshops. They are scheduled hourly beginning at 10 a.m. with a Brown Bag lunch break at 1 p.m. Well-known area art professionals will lead 45-minute workshops with question-and-answer time.

The workshop topics, times and presenters are:

Building Your Business -- The Ins and Outs: 10 a.m., Julie Ueland, artist and designer;

The Cooperative Gallery for Cooperative Artists...And Maybe Some Who Aren't: 11 a.m., Katie Cordrey, graphic artist and designer;

Balancing Your Dual Life -- Surviving and Thriving in Both Lives: 12 noon, Honna Sheffield, potter and non-profit director;

Career Choices -- A Conversation with Dennis Mullen: 2 p.m., Dennis Mullen, master glass blower;

How Do I Become a Salesperson for My Work?: 3 p.m., Jerry Fenter, painter and educator;

Marketing Success Strategies -- Starting Out: 4 p.m., Marty Rudolph, marketing strategist.

Workshop attendees may bring a Brown Bag lunch or order from a choice of Brown Bag lunches offered by The Creamery.

The day will conclude with the "Nights in White Salmon" Second Annual Artists' Gathering from 5 to 9 p.m. at the White Salmon Glassworks, 105 E. Jewett, White Salmon.

Several downtown White Salmon merchants will be remaining open Saturday evening.
