The Bruins (4-5 in Trico, 5-5 overall) played 4-4 Seton Catholic here Tuesday (too late for this week’s press deadline) and host Castle Rock (4-4-1) tonight at 6 for their Senior Night match. They finish up regular-season play on Oct. 28 at Kalama.
“This is a tell-tale week for us,” said Bruins Coach Amy Kasenga. “If we win both, we will move up [in the standings]. But we need to win out to lock up third place” and a district berth.
Last week, the Bruins lost at La Center, 5-2, on Oct. 14.
Allie Spadaro scored twice for CHS, including the match’s first goal on a breakaway in the eighth minute. The CHS lead lasted for 11 minutes. The Wildcats (8-0) took the lead for good with a goal in the 26th minute, and led 3-1 at halftime.
Last Thursday, five players combined for seven goals in the Bruins’ 7-1 victory over visiting Stevenson (0-7).
Aidan Liddiard tallied her first goal of 2014 in the 22nd second and finished with two goals, the second coming on a penalty kick. Katherine Childs also netted two goals. Catalina Suarez, Jordan Mur-phy, and Savannah Story also tallied goals for CHS.
“I like the versatility of our scoring,” Kasenga said.
All told, the Bruins fired 33 shots at the Stevenson goal. Seven went into the net, while the Bulldogs’ goalkeeper had to make 14 saves.
