On Saturday, April 25, Hood River Police officers arrested Parkdale resident Tyson Sackett, 28, for shooting a man at the Hood River Marina.
Around 6:45 p.m. Hood River Police Officers responded to a report of shots fired at the Hood River Marina. According to Witnesses a man, later identified as Sackett, fired several shots at another man in a vehicle at the north end of the marina. The gunman fled eastbound across the marina, stripped off his clothing and jumped into the Columbia River and swam to the adjacent riverbank.
Hood River Police Officers located Sackett and took him into custody a short time later at a nearby gas station. The victim, Mark Wright, 60, of Eugene, Ore., was shot several times. Wrigh twas able to drive himself into the downtown Hood River area before getting help.
Wright was transported by life flight to a Portland area hospital. Sackett was transported to NORCOR where he was booked and lodged for assault first degree at this time.
