Riding a streak of six losses in their past seven games, The Dalles got two goals apiece from seniors Brooke McCall and Giselle Manzo in a 4-1 girls’ soccer victory Tuesday in a Columbia River Conference soccer match played at Pendleton High School.
“We played a good game and created a lot of opportunities,” said first-year Riverhawk head coach Oscar Nunez.
With the speed of Emma Weir and Jordyn Hattenhauer wreaking havoc on the Lady Buckaroos (0-11 overall, 0-5 league), the Riverhawks were able to take a 2-1 halftime lead.
TD then tacked on a pair of second-half goals to create some distance on the scoreboard.
In addition to the two goals by McCall and Manzo, Molly Taylor, Manzo, Victoria Barragan and Weir had an assist each on the scores.
With their four-goal outburst set on Tuesday night, the Lady Riverhawks rank 13th in the 33-team 5A classification with 34 goals scored.
The Dalles (5-8, 2-3), already locked in as the No. 3 seed and a state play-in qualifier, looks to keep its scoring surge going against No. 12-ranked Hood River Valley (10-3, 5-0) at 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday at Henderson Field in Hood River.
