Agribusiness isn’t the only industry being impacted by early spring weather and drought. Wet Planet Whitewater began rafting Husum Falls and Upper White Salmon river almost two months early, according to a press release from the White Salmon company, “This is just another reason why the White Salmon River is so incredible,” said Todd Collins, co-owner of Wet Planet. “We keep hearing so much about low water, and I know it’s disasterous for lots of folk. However, the White Salmon is glacier fed so we’ll be running whitewater all summer long.”

The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a ribbon cutting for 5:15 p.m. tonight, May 20, at Farmers Insurance, 300 E. Fourth St. for Deb Klaviter. An open house will be held Tuesday, May 26, 5:15 p.m. for Mary Rollins of Shelterwood Art Publishing at Westwind Frame and Gallery, 412 E. Second St.
On Wednesday, May 27, 5:15 p.m. there will be on open house for Hearthwarmers Firewood at the chamber office as well.
A “business after hours” is also scheduled in May: Thursday, May 21, at Timmons Law PC (The Four Seasons), 3591 Klindt Dr. #220.
Coffee Connection will be at The Dalles Wasco County Public Library, 722 Court St., at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday May 26.
