SNAP and WIC benefits are stable through February and school meal funding is secure through March, according to the Oregon Department of Human Services and the USDA. About 615,000 Oregonians count on SNAP to help put food on the table, according to a press release.
The Food Bank is working with partners across the state to reach furloughed individuals who may be missing paychecks as a result of the shutdown, as well as investigating possible adverse effects of the shutdown on Native American communities.
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s licensing system will be offline Sunday in order to install new security measures. This will only affect people who are buying a fishing or hunting license for the first time in three years or longer.
Anyone who has a current hunting or fishing license, or has had one within the last three years, will be unaffected. Hunters and anglers who already have an ODFW account (under the new or old licensing system) will be able to access the system to purchase documents, report hunts, tag their harvest, etc.
