Narcotics officers arrested a 21-year-old The Dalles man Saturday morning on drug charges and charges relating to the burglary that took place at a carnival office downtown last week.
Cameron Christopher Jones was arrested at 2120 W. 8th St. on June 30 by members of the Mid-Columbia Interagency Narcotics Task Force (MINT), said The Dalles Police Detective Sergeant Eric Macnab.
Jones was charged with unlawful delivery of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, two counts of second-degree burglary, first-degree theft, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree theft by receiving.
The carnival burglary was reported last Wednesday morning, June 27, according to police logs. The log stated the carnival office was broken into and over $1,000 in damage was done. Several items were stolen, plus $100 in change, and the safe was damaged.
On Thursday, June 28, a citizen reported finding a cardboard box at Kramer Field which police found included items stolen from the carnival.
Macnab said the narcotics-related search warrant produced items that were suspected of being taken in connection with the burglary of the carnival office.
It is not all that common for drug search warrants to result in charges for a burglary, he said.
MINT was assisted with the search warrant by The Dalles Police Department, Wasco County Sheriff’s Office and the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office.
