The Dalles High Riverhawks wrestling team, guided by first-year Coach Barry Abrams, competed in its fourth tournament this year on Dec. 16 — the 12-team Molalla Invitational — and they had seven athletes that placed in the top five of their weight divisions.

“We placed more people in the top of their weight classes than we have at any previous tournament this year,” Abrams said. “We took sixth place in team scoring which was really good. All in all, the season is going pretty well, and I have to say that we just have a great wrestling community in The Dalles. We had two of our former graduated wrestlers, JR Scott and Maise Bandell-Ramirez, who came back to help out and show the kids some stuff at practice. It’s always great to see former wrestlers come back and share what they’ve learned.”
