John Winfred Stolte was born Aug. 9, 1954, in San Francisco, California, to Frank and Muriel Stolte. He graduated from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo with a degree in journalism. His time in San Luis Obispo was spent on long Harley Davidson motorcycle rides where he was a member of the SLO Scooters. John had an exciting career as a news cameraman and was the owner of Coastal Productions, specializing in multimedia projects.
John met Kim Hougard from Gallatin Gateway, Montana. They were married five months later at the beautiful Gallatin Gateway Inn. John was a sportsman and a shepherd. He loved windsurfing and his greatest joy was teaching his sons Eric, Adam and Owen, fishing and water sports along the Columbia River.
John passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026. John was buried at his home in Hood River, Oregon, and is survived by his sons, grandson, and sister.
