The defending OSAA Class 4A softball state champion and No. 1-ranked The Dalles High Riverhawks (12-0 TVC, 16-1 overall) captured a second consecutive Tri Valley Conference championship following a 15-0 home win May 1 over the Madras High White Buffaloes (3-7 TVC, 5-11 overall).
Sophomore pitcher Siyra Faulkner pitched a perfect game and senior Zoe LeBreton hit two home runs to help propel the Riverhawks to their 15th consecutive victory and fifth shutout win this season.
The Riverhawks had a great start to their TVC schedule last week as they rolled to 12-2 win April 29 over the Estacada High Rangers (8-4 TVC, 14-7 overall) at 16th Street Ballpark in The Dalles. The Riverhawks followed their win over Madras with a 9-1 road victory May 2 over the Gladstone High Gladiators (1-9 TVC, 7-12 overall).
The Riverhawks play their next game Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at home versus the Crook County High Cowboys (7-4 TVC, 12-10 overall), followed by a 5 p.m. road game Friday against Estacada to conclude their TVC schedule.
The Dalles will face the Class 6A Barlow High Bruins (13-9) in a nonleague 4:30 p.m. road game Monday, followed by another nonleague road game May 14 at 4:30 p.m. versus the Class 5A Bend High Lava Bears (15-6).
The Riverhawks, the OSAA Class 4A “Team of the Month” for April, clinched an OSAA state playoff berth for a third straight year.
