However, the loss seemed to only motivate this group.
The Eagles closed out last week’s play with a shutout victory on the road against Cleveland, April 12.
The Eagles beat the Warriors by a final score of 15-0 to move to 6-1 on the season. The Eagle are second in the PL conference with a 3-1 record.
“Our ladies continue to take advantage of opportunities to practice and solidify offense and defense work when competing against less skilled programs,” Cleveland being in a developing stage within their program, said head coach Andrew McElderry. “We have been working towards getting the ladies to understand and value opportunities to use every moment as a learning session. We then are better prepared for the tough games.”
Against the Warriors, efficient was the name of the game on the offensive end for HRV as they scored their 15 goals on 21 shot attempts.
The Eagles’ goals also came from a balanced attack as eight different athletes scored for HRV.
HRV was led on the offensive end by a three-goal effort from both Emma Norris and Kathryn Koenig.
Behind Norris and Koenig in scoring was Abigail Bartles, Katherine McElderry and Terra Mikkelsen who each had two goals versus Cleveland.
The remaining three goals unaccounted for were scored by Tori Hopkins, Isabella Simpson and Alex Willis.
Of the Eagles’ 15 goals scored, nine of them came off assists from six different HRV athletes.
Bartles, Norris and Simpson led the way for the Eagles in assists each tallying two.
Defensively, the Eagles held Cleveland to just six shots at goal throughout the entire game.
Ella Rand and Sofia Newton split time in the goal for HRV and saved all the shots they saw come their way.
Ten different athletes helped force 13 Cleveland turnovers. Rebecca Kiyokawa led the way for HRV with three caused turnovers.
At 6-1 on the season, the Eagles will have back-to-back home games this week with the first of the two on Tuesday, April 17 versus Oregon Episcopal School (results unavailable at press time).
After the Eagles’ matchup versus OES, HRV will be back at home on Thursday, April 19 versus Grant; this game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
