WHITE SALMON — Columbia High’s girls track and field team finished ninth out of 17 schools at the Tiger Invite in Battle Ground on April 12.
The Bruins scored 40 points and were led by junior Sara Miller. She ran a personal best in the 400 meters of 1:03.23 (fifth), was fourth in the 100 (12.89) and third in the 200 (26.42).
Samantha Evans won the high jump with a personal best of 5-3, and teammate Saylor Hauge was second at 5-1. Hauge also was fifth in the 300 hurdles at 49.65.
Distance runner Lilah Zimmerman placed sixth in the 1600 (5:37.86). Teammate Olivia Allen ran a PR 2:40.09 in the 800.
The Columbia boys were led by Garrett Kock, who bounded a personal best of 37-6 in the triple jump. Junior Graham Beck ran a PR 24.94 in the 200.
Columbia also competed April 9 in a four-team Trico League meet at La Center. Freshman Jaime Perez cleared a PR 5-6 in the high jump and Ezekiel Wilson Ramirez threw a season best 104-3 in the discus to lead the Bruin boys.
Columbia’s girls were led by Miller, who won the 100, 200 and 400 at La Center. Hailey Tolbert won the 100 hurdles in 17.98, and she added a PR in the 300 hurdles. Winning the latter race was teammate Hauge, who clocked 49.86. Sequoia Cohen, Hauge, Willow Cohen and Miller combined to win the 4x100 relay in 52.15.
