Eddy matched up with Wilson Reis of Brazil in a special "Super Fight,” which is like a main event in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Reis is the sixth ranked UFC Bantamweight contender and had just fought for the UFC title in April against Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson.
He is also a Jiu Jitsu Blackbelt with an accomplished record of having only been submitted once in his professional career.
Eddy had just come out of another Super Fight at the Eddie Bravo Invitational last month that was filmed and produced as a television event called, "Bushido Battleground.” Airing on the "El Rey" network, this series is currently playing on the major satellite providers.
Eddy started this match against Reis knowing he was a huge underdog, so he was very aggressive and pushed the pace hoping to put some pressure on Reis.
Within the first minute, Eddy had put a flying body triangle on Reis and was able to pull him into his guard. Eddy fought hard for an arm bar, but Reis with his strength was able to pull out of it.
As Reis tried to stand back to his feet to shake Eddy loose, Eddy slipped the triangle tighter on Reis’ shoulders and again went for the arm with a well-known wrestling move called a "two on one," where he used both his hands to grab Reis’ left wrist.
From here, Eddy performed what is called the “Dead Orchard” on Reis.
Eddy held onto Reis’ head with his legs while pulling on the arm with everything he had, and seconds later Reis tapped rather than having his shoulder dislocated and Eddy got the first-ever Combat Jiu Jitsu Worlds win in this Super Fight.
Getting a big named UFC ranked opponent like Reis to this event and having Bruce Buffer, an official Octagon announcer for UFC events, doing the announcing made this an incredible experience for Eddy.
This event between Eddy and Reis was also a filmed pay per view competition with prize money for the winners.
Eddy credits his time in Hood River wrestling for Keith Bassham at the Hood River Middle school and coaches Mark Brown, Rich Polkinghorn and Trent Kroll at HRVHS for nurturing his love for wrestling and competing in general.
He loves to coach and encourages young people to take up the sports of wrestling and Jiu Jitsu to stay in great shape and to be part of a something where everyone pushes each other to be their best.
