Eagles off to 2-0 baseball start

HOOD RIVER — After opening its season last week with two non-league wins, Hood River Valley’s (HRV’s) baseball team is in Arizona this week at the Coach Bob Invitational.

Coach Max Reitz’s Eagles won their season opener March 17, 4-0, at Class 4A St. Helens. Three days later HRV, won at Pendleton, the defending Class 4A state champion, 7-2.

The win over St. Helens featured the no-hit pitching of sophomore Landen Pratt and senior Trevor Jacobs. Pratt earned the win, throwing five innings, striking out 10 and walking five. Jacobs closed the game, earning strikeouts on five of his six outs.

At the plate, Pratt had one of HRV’s five hits and knocked in two runs. Other hits came from Tyson Harjo (double), Nick Tuttle (two runs scored), Chaz Valentine, and Maverick Hockett.

Hood River will play four games in four days in Arizona at the tournament, which includes 112 teams from 13 different states.

The Eagles are scheduled to play their 2026 home opener April 3 vs. Portland’s Lincoln High. HRV starts its 16-game Northwest Oregon Conference schedule April 14 at Parkrose.
