HOOD RIVER – Three Hood River Valley girls wrestlers won multiple matches this past weekend at the Oregon Classic High School Duals.
The annual event, held at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center in Redmond, attracts many of the top wrestling programs in Oregon for two days of dual matches. Hood River Valley won one of five duals in pool competition and then won 2-of-3 in its bracket.
Leading the way for the Eagles were Ayleen Marquez, Valeria Solorio Campos, and Xiomara Gordian-Gomez. Marquez won four wrestled matches at 110 pounds. One of her two losses was to 2025 Class 4A/3A/2A/1A state runner-up Paxton Steele of Harrisburg High.
Campos won five of the six dual matches she wrestled. Her lone loss, in a 170-pound matchup of returning Class 6A/5A state tourney competitors, was to Evelyn Wirts of 6A Sprague High of Salem. Campos beat Scappoose High sophomore Karley Siemienczuk, who competed at the OSAA 4A state tourney a season ago. She also beat Leilarose Vaa Calva, who also competed at state in 2025 for South Medford.
Gordian-Gomez finished the two days of duals with a 6-1 record. Her lone loss was to 3A wrestler Izabella Castleberry of Harrisburg High at 155 pounds. Gordian-Gomez’s wins included a victory over 2025 state tourney wrestler Nicole Buxton of 4A Scappoose.
Also winning at least one wrestled match for HRV were Adina Blosser (140) and Asai Akhmedova (140).
