WHITE SALMON — Columbia High split a Trico League baseball double-header March 25 against visiting Castle Rock, sending the Bruins into this week’s spring break sitting in a tie for third place in the conference standings. Columbia (3-3 overall, 2-1 Trico) won the opener, 3-0, behind senior pitcher Kai Brasuell’s four-hit, seven-strikeout performance through six innings.

Sophomore Kellen Olson came on in relief for a 1-2-3 seventh inning as the Bruins handed the Rockets their first league loss. Offensively, Columbia’s six-hit attack included single hits from Benjamin Borton (double, two runs, RBI), Olson (RBI), Wyatt Stelma (RBI), and Jaden Wang (double). Brasuell aided his pitching cause by going 2-for-3 with a double.
