1A state basketball playoffs begin this week

THE GORGE – The third-seeded South Wasco County’s boys basketball team and the No. 7 seeded Dufur High girls open the 2026 OSAA Class 1A state playoffs this week with home games.
South Wasco County (25-2) hosts Jordan Valley (13-12), the No. 3 team from the High Desert League. Dufur (22-3) hosts CS Lewis (16-9) of Newberg on Feb. 25. The two teams played Dec. 6, 2025 in the season opener, which was won by Dufur, 50-43.
Dufur won the 2026 Big Sky district championship over Trout Lake on Feb. 21. Trout Lake (17-8) opens state playoff action Feb. 25 at Powers (20-7). South Wasco County’s girls team plays at Southwest Christian in the first round on Feb. 25. The Redsides (10-15) lost to Southwest (21-5), 26-18, on Jan. 3 in a non-league game in Beaverton.
Two other Gorge 1A boys teams will play away games in the first round. Horizon Christian School (14-10), the No. 4 team from the Big Sky, plays Feb. 24 at High Desert League champion Adrian (22-3). Klickitat/Glenwood (13-9) plays in Klamath Falls at Crosspoint Christian (20-7), the No. 2 team from the Mountain Valley League.
The winners of the boys Feb. 24 games play in the second round Feb. 27 at the site of the higher seeded team. The girls’ second round is Feb. 25. Winners of second round games advance to the 2026 OSAA Class 1A state tourney in Baker City, March 4-7.
