Senior Juan Diego Contreras and junior Leo Lemann finished 2-3 to lead The Dalles to a sixth-place finish Saturday at the Oregon City Invitational cross country meet.
Hopes for, first, a co-Intermountain Conference championship, and then a first-round playoff bye, were dashed last week when the Hood River Valley boys basketball team dropped successive road games at Redmond and Crook County. The losses left the Eagles in third place in the final regular season standings and a home playoff date against Pendleton on Monday (result came after the printed edition deadline).
After dominating the Columbia River Conference year-in and year-out, the Hood River Valley girls soccer team fell short of winning the first ever girls soccer Intermountain Conference title this season.
With first place already locked away by the Ridgeview Ravens ahead of the final day of the regular season on Thursday, Oct. 25, the race for second place for the Hood River Valley boys soccer program in the Intermountain Conference was still in-play with one game remaining before the 5A state playoffs.
Before this past weekend’s competition for the Hood River Volleyball team, the Eagles had not only knocked off the top-ranked, but the only remaining undefeated team in the Intermountain Conference: The Ridgeview Ravens.
After a 6-0 start to the season, the Hood River Valley volleyball team has now lost its last three games, including the Eagles’ league opener at home versus Crook County on Sept. 18.
