This evening, an injury accident between two vehicles occurred at the intersection of Belmont Drive and Frankton Road, the third in three weeks. When I spoke to the county sheriff’s department last week, a very nice officer helped me out by saying that I should contact ODOT and/or Hood River County Public Works about my concerns and desire for a four-way stop.
He said the three previous accidents here were committed by speeders on Frankton Road failing to stop at the intersection. For this reason, he thought a four-way stop would likely not be helpful for those folks.
Then he said he thought it might help a bit since the vehicles traveling on Belmont would be stopped or going slowly through the intersection.
I’ll follow up by calling the right folks this time. If you wish to join me in my concern, that would be lovely: ODOT, 541-296-4774 (or at least they can direct our calls), or the Hood River County Road Department, 541-386-2616.

‘Suspicious’
I can’t help but wonder at Cascade Locks’ incredibly suspicious timing. If they were going to ignore the results of an entire primary election cycle, why waste everyone’s time, energy and money, including the $105,000 given to the opponents for Measure 14-55? Why wait until after the election to begin to ignore it? How can they continue to promote what is now prohibited in the county?
Wasn’t the time to say or do something before the election was held?
Sounds like expensive sour grapes to me.

Diamond flowers
On the fence surrounding the high school ballfields are signs talking about the invasive weeds called bullthorns. Every year they grow in front of the middle dugout of the baseball diamond. P.S. They are now flowering.
