To the editor:
With the resignation last year of John Huffman, the residents of House District 59 have been given the opportunity of replacing John with a potentially outstanding legislator. Darcy Long-Curtiss, a native and long term resident of The Dalles, is offering to serve local residents as our representative in Salem.
Darcy would bring to the job an outstanding record of service to our community and region. Currently serving on The Dalles City Council, Darcy knows the “rough & tumble" of politics and will be a strong advocate for our interests in Salem. As a local business person and local elected official, she knows the issues and she has the knowledge and experience to see that things get done.
She knows local residents from having lived here, and I'm sure she will make herself available to local residents with her knowledge of local and state government issues, as well as going to bat for them when needed with the state or local bureaucracies.
Voters of The Dalles need to take advantage of this opportunity, putting an outstanding local resident in the Oregon legislature to represent us. Send Darcy Long- Curtiss to Salem to do the job.
