Letter to the editor: Theft hurts

On Monday, Jan. 20, I believe two young men stole an Official NFL No. 7 Michael Vicks Atlanta Falcon jersey from my store.

Ouch, that really hurts. We’re a fairly new store and we can’t afford employees, benefits or salaries. I looked right at you to offer you help and share our store specials and you knowingly are robbing me at that same moment.

We have lay-a-way and could have worked out an honest payment plan with you. I’m working very hard to make a fun and affordable store here. We’re striving to be a positive influence in our community and for our visitors. I’ll bet you didn’t know the value of that shirt is more than I make in an average whole day of sales. We can not make up the loss or replace it. This is a loss from our own pocket that needs to be made up some how.

Someone out there reading this knows who you are and will know you are a thief. If anyone sees this distinctive Jersey, ask the wearer if he’s proud of how he got it or where it truly came from. I pray Almighty God convicts your selfishness and I pray also for His help to keep our doors open so others can benefit from what we can still offer here in historic downtown The Dalles.
