Letter to the editor: Helping others

I wanted to lift up and give a shout out to a couple of these projects and thank all that have participated. THANK YOU!

This past year, YouthThink did a challenge day at the middle school. The theme was “Do Something” and the students were challenged to do something about bullying.

A group of women crocheted and knitted 400 leis to present to these students as a reminder that they would not bully.

These women did it in two months and they were beautiful. Special shout out goes to Virginia Lexow who alone crocheted 70 of these leis.

Another project is “Dresses for Africa”—the national program. We locally do our own thing and send dresses and shorts all over the world, not only Africa, but Haiti, Dominican Republic, Philippines, and other countries as well.

Our dresses are sent with a local person visiting these countries to do mission work or just touring.

To date, we have sewn and distributed over 900 dresses.

Special shout out goes to Lana Tepfer who coordinates fabric donations, preparation of kits, and distribution of dresses and shorts when requested.

Thank you to all the volunteers who participated in the above two projects and thank you to all volunteers in our community.
