Letter to the editor: Fond memory

My husband and I are from Alberta, Canada, and had been on a holiday to several states and were on our way back north when we stopped to look at this beautiful sight.

We stayed for breakfast and a conversation was struck up by a couple the next table over.

We told them where we were from and they shared they were from The Dalles and it was the lady’s birthday and they asked if we would take some pictures of them.

No problem for us and they were appreciative. We enjoyed our breakfast and the view was superb. As we got our coats on to hit the road this couple said they wanted to buy our breakfast as a way to share the happiness of the day.

We were stunned to think in this day and age someone would offer to do this for total strangers.

So to Adrian and Nicole (sorry don’t know last names) your thoughtfulness that day was wonderful to two Canadians driving through your state. What an impression you made. We have shared this story more than some of the other adventures with people and they say “Wow, you’re kidding ...how nice, huh?”

Thank you again, it still makes us smile. We hope you had a wonderful birthday.
