I cannot tell you how frustrating it is as a working parent that the school district here in The Dalles delays school for no reason.
I live out of the city limits and drive my daughter 15 minutes to school every day, which is probably more time spent on the road than most people just to commute to school. We have never had a problem driving on our roads.
It seems as if District 21 is getting far too lazy.
There is no reason to take away time spent educating our children because it gets a little cold outside. Not only is it frustrating because it seems like pure laziness on the school district’s side, but it’s even more frustrating when it is poorly announced.
Today it was not on the news, the roads were in fine shape so there was no reason for us to get on your website, and we didn’t know about it until we got to the school and there was a sign that said “late start.”
On top of that, as a working parent who drops their child off and heads straight to work, it’s a huge inconvenience. I don’t take my child to school in my pj’s and go back home to go to bed. I take my child to school and then go to work for eight hours a day. My work starts on time whether it’s cold outside or not. Quit being lazy and start setting an example for our children.
They are going to grow up thinking when it’s cold outside they can show up late for work.
