HOOD RIVER — SafeSpace Children’s Advocacy Center of The Gorge is honored to have the support of Windermere Real Estate of the Columbia River Gorge.
“Kim Salvesen left us a legacy of excellence and commitment to community; it is in her honor that we support SafeSpace,” said owner Kim Chamness.
Salvesen, then-owner of Windermere Real Estate Columbia River Gorge, Inc., died Jan. 1 at age 55 of Mantle Cell Lymphoma.
Windermere has offices in Washington and Oregon, and agents are involved in their communities. They participate in fundraising, and they also donate a portion of their commission to the Windermere Foundation, which supports programs that provide vital services.
SafeSpace is a non-profit and the single point of contact in the Columbia Gorge for child abuse victims to get the help they need through coordinated support services that reduce further trauma and offer justice, hope and healing.
Completion of the new home for SafeSpace is anticipated by Spring 2024. It will replace a small rental space that was not designed for the specialized services of child abuse assessment. The new facility, located on Wasco Loop off I-84 in Hood River, will double the organization’s capacity from 160 to 320 cases per year. Plans for the new facility also include on-site bilingual pediatric mental support services for children who have experienced severe trauma.
We are grateful to Windermere and their support for the wellbeing of children in the Gorge. Thanks to the generosity of Chamnes and her team, SafeSpace will name a room in the news space in honor of Kim Salvesen.
