The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has closed the west portion of Avery Park, located on the north shore of the Columbia River along Washington State Route 14 near Wishram, Wash. The east portion of the park remains open.

A recent wildfire burned shoreline vegetation along the shoulder of the road, resulting in erosion and the potential for unsafe driving conditions. The Corps does not yet know when the road will be reopened.
