A runaway yard debris trailer damaged St. Mark’s Episcopal Church entryway Wednesday just before 3 p.m. Kenton Chandler of Hood River Towing prepares to remove the trailer from where it struck the church’s south entryway. Herman Lopez of Green Machine said he was towing the trailer eastbound when the tow chain snapped, sending the trailer into the side of the building. No one was injured. The trailer hitched knocked out some shingle siding and the handrail. There was no apparent damage to the foundation, though the full extent will be known once an inspection is done, according to Rev. Anna Carmichael, who was in her office and heard the trailer slam into the building. The trailer narrowly missed Carmichael’s parked vehicle. No citation was issued.
