A Kamiah, Idaho man has been accused of shooting a Eugene man multiple times at the Hood River Marina on Saturday, April 25.
Tyson Sackett, 28, appeared in court Monday in connection with the shooting of Mark Wright, 60, of Eugene. Sackett, a former Parkdale resident, was living with relatives in Kamiah for the last three years.
Wright was transported by life flight Saturday to a Portland area hospital and is recovering from injuries, according to a news release from the Hood River Police Department.
Sackett was arraigned Monday at the Hood River County Courthouse on three charges: attempted murder, assault first degree and tampering with evidence. If convicted, Sackett faces up to life in prison for attempted murder, a minimum of 7.5 years for assault first degree and $6,000 in fines for tampering with evidence.
Sackett appeared before Judge John Olson at the court via video feed from Northern Oregon Regional Corrections Facility in The Dalles Monday morning.
Hood River District Attorney John Sewell recommended a bail of $50,000, “given the severity of the charges.”
Olson carried out the bail recommendation and ordered that Sackett have no contact with the victim, as well as no possession of intoxicants or deadly weapons.
Olson set the next court appearance for Sackett on May 12.
