Jon Robert Rea, age 80, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026. He was born on Jan. 30, 1946, in Champaign, Illinois, to Robert and Roberta Rea, who preceded him in death.
Jon lived a full and hardworking life. After completing one year of college, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he built a career working for the City of The Dalles Water Department, where he was known for his dedication and reliability. Jon found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved music and spent many hours playing the guitar. He also cherished time with his beloved dog, Lena, who brought him comfort and companionship.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lanora Rea, and his children Loren Rea; Ian Rea of Arizona; Sabrina Poole; Rodger Poole; and Shawna Watson, of Oregon. He was a proud grandfather to Nyiah Prante, Jaden Prante, Samantha Rea, Vanity Poole, Sierra Anderson, Shaynie Watson and Staley Poole. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Widick.
Jon will be remembered for his quiet strength, his service to his country and community, and his love for his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In accordance with his wishes, his ashes will remain at home with his family. If anyone would like to donate in lieu of flowers, you can go to Little Music City, PO Box 538, The Dalles.
