TROUT LAKE — Twelve songwriters will gather at Trout Lake Hall on Dec. 6 for an evening of tunes meant to inspire, unite and rally.
Created and hosted by Portland artist Rose Gerber, “Songs of Power & Protest” brings together musicians from across the Pacific Northwest to share original protest songs written for the occasion and perform a cover of their personal favorite protest song.
Based in Portland, Gerber is an American roots explorer, incorporating country, folk, rock, alt-rock and alt-country into a seamless signature aesthetic where cowboy boots meet Doc Martens. Her catalog includes an LP, several EPs and a bounty of singles. She has shared the stage with touring acts like Big Richard, Never Come Down, Margo Cilker, and performed at iconic Northwest festivals such as Pickathon, Treefort Music Festival, and Jackalope Jamboree.
This will be the second event in the series and will feature a diverse assortment of artists, including Matt Mitchell, Jim Brunberg, Crystal Lariza, Erin Adkission, Zach Markezich, William Surly, Kyle Patrick Kregan, Jordan Krinsky, Shiloh Mae, Tim Karplus, Katie Waterland and Gerber herself.
“Folk, bluegrass, country, pop — whatever the sound, these songs carry a shared purpose: to move hearts, spark action and remind us that music has always been part of the movement,” said a press release.
Be the first to hear songs that could become the soundtrack for the next generation of change makers and activists. Tickets and more information are available at www.TroutLakeHall.com.
