Notable incidents
11 theft reports. Prowlers in Hood River county, Tamanawas Falls, Bridge of the Gods, Tilly Jane Trailhead, Oak Ridge Trailhead; vehicle parts from beside residence. Separately, a report of order violation, unlawful entry to vehicle, and theft III in Cascade Locks. And a county resident’s mailbox was stolen from.
A minor was cited for possessing liquor, and another person for providing them with liquor, at Hood River Valley High School. And at Hood River Options Academy, a minor was cited for possessing marijuana.
1 injury traffic crash on Highway 35.
On April 5, deputies responded to a report of a missing four-year-old child. The non-criminal case was closed.
3 hit-and-run reports.
A hiker found a firearm in Hood River County on April 7.
3 non-injury crashes. I-84, Westside Fire Department Station 2.
A dog bite in Odell. Separately, someone suffered a dog bite, which caused them to crash their bike, sustaining additional injuries.
Two reports of possible identity theft.
An orchard irrigation system was reported damaged by unknown persons on April 12
A glider pilot was required to make a forced landing short of Jernstedt Airport on April 19. No injuries reported.
Deputies attempted a vehicle stop on April 24 which led to a pursuit. No arrest was logged for the incident.
Deputies and Westside Fire responded to an injured mountain biker on the Three Blind Mice Trail on April 26.

Hood River Police, April 27 - May 3
These charges which resulted in arrests: DUII (one), drug violation (10), endangering welfare of minor (two), invalid drivers license (one), no contact order violation (one), possession of forged instrument (one), probation detainer (one), warrants (one).
Notable incidents
Five hit-and-run reports. Locations include Portway Avenue, 13th, intersection of First and Cascade Streets, and parking lots at Safeway and Cascade Farm and Outdoor.
Three theft reports: Check fraud, shoplifting, and an account opened fraudulently.
Three non-injury crash reports. Locations were the Second Street overpass, State and 9th, State at 6th.
One DUII arrest. Officers arrested and lodged a non-resident driver at NORCOR on charges of DUII (controlled substance), possession of a controlled substance (schedule II), delivery of a controlled substance (schedule II), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (heroin), delivery of a controlled substance (heroin), criminal possession of a forged instrument, and endangering the welfare of a minor. In the same incident, another non-resident person was arrested and lodged at NORCOR on charges of possession of a controlled substance (schedule II), delivery of a controlled substance (schedule II), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (heroin), delivery of a controlled substance (heroin), endangering the welfare of a minor, two warrants and a probation violation detainer.
Two people were arrested for unlawful possession and attempted delivery of methamphetamine on May 2. One was also charged with using an invalid driver’s license. More than a pound of methamphetamine was seized.
Officers cited a non-resident male for public defecation.
The Dalles Police, May 2 - 6
These charges resulted in arrests: DUII (two), harassment (one), hit and run (one), resisting arrest (one), theft (one), warrant (four).
Notable incidents
13 animal calls. Dogs at large, getting taunted, fighting; two kittens relocated to foster care; allegedly neglected creatures including 2 “hot dogs.”
1 theft reports. Tools from shed.
2 vehicle crashes. One took place on third Street. In a second incident, a vehicle hit a pedestrian on Sixth Street on May 5.
Drugs were collected for destruction on 2nd.
A person was arrested on charges of theft and resisting, after allegedly nabbing a case of beer on Walnut May 2.
With assistance from the fire department, a disabled person was rescued from a creek on 9th Street after a wheel came off a wheelchair.
Three incidents of slashed tires.
Theft of a debit card is under investigation.
An unattended death of an unhoused person was reported on First Street.
Two Pomona Street residents reported being threatened by a trespassing person with a kitchen knife, who then left.

Oregon State Police, May 2 - 9
These charges resulted in arrests: driving suspended or revoked (two), DUII (five), eluding (one), forgery (one), possession of meth (one), reckless driving (one).
Notable incidents
The driver of a Hyundai Sonata was injured after rear-ending a semi-trailer on I-84 and rolling near milepost 104. The driver said they reached down for a fallen cellphone, momentarily looking away from the road, and crashed. They were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the scene and got two citations for following too close and driving while suspended.
Three non-injury crashes. A southbound silver truck hit three horses who were standing in Highway 97 near milepost 34. The truck ended up in the ditch, where the driver was warned for speed; the horses were removed by their owner. Separately, a Chrysler lost a tire tread on I-84 near milepost 97 eastbound, lost control, hit a guardrail. Thirdly, a Subaru struck a deer on I-84 near milepost 55 westbound, killing it. Troopers responded and found a white box truck had swerved to miss the dead deer, hitting the parked Subaru and taking out 50 or 60 feet of guardrail. The box truck driver was cited for failure to maintain lane.
Troopers stopped a black Chevy pickup on I-84 near milepost 75 westbound for multiple violations. Contacting the driver, they saw drug items in plain view. A vehicle seizure warrant was granted, and the vehicle towed. The driver was issued a criminal citation for possession of methamphetamine. Troopers escorted the tow truck and the vehicle to a secured lot. A vehicle search warrant was granted. The search found more drug items, and items related to forgery. More charges were referred to the district attorney.
A trooper tried to stop a Harley Davidson for speeding 96 mph on I-84 near milepost 82 eastbound, and weaving through traffic. The rider first slowed and performed a U-turn on a city street, then eluded ad high speed. Charges were referred to the district attorney.
A semi-truck smashed an unoccupied bicycle that was lying in I-84 near milepost 88 eastbound, puncturing its fuel tank. The driver estimated the majority of 50 to 75 gallons of fuel spilled at Exit 88.
Troopers found a vehicle stolen from Wasco County.
Troopers helped Sherman County deputies chase a vehicle speeding 100 mph for about 4 miles down the Biggs-Rufus Highway. Once stopped, the driver showed signs of psychosis. Troopers contacted their family and learned the driver had been taking hallucinogenic mushrooms for about four days. The driver was arrested for DUII.
