Bingen-White Salmon Police, July 15 - 21

Three thefts with ongoing investigation, one in Bingen and two in White Salmon.
A burglary in White Salmon July 15, with items stolen from a storage unit.
Two found wallets were returned to their owners.
One wildlife call from White Salmon. Officers were unable to locate the animal and referred it to Fish and Wildlife.
A citizen was assisted with the disposal of stun guns.
Hood River Police, July 14 - 20
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Criminal mischief (one), DUII (two), driving while suspended (one), hit and run (two), menacing (one), public indecency (two), restraining order violation (one), theft (three), warrant (three).
Notable incidents
Nine theft reports. Shoplifting (two incidents), moped, theft of services, backpack stolen from an unoccupied motorcycle, wallet stolen from Pietro’s and later used at local stores, money and medication stolen from the Hood River pool, theft from an assisted living home, and stolen credit cards used at businesses in the area.
Four warrant arrests. In one incident, officers arrested and lodged a person at NORCOR on three outstanding warrants.
Four hit-and-run reports, with two arrests. Locations include parking lots at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital and Cascade Square (two incidents) and First/Oak streets.
Two DUII arrests. In one incident, officers arrested and lodged a non-resident person at NORCOR on charge of DUII - controlled substance. In the same incident, their non-resident passenger was arrested and lodged at NORCOR for a restraining order violation.
Two non-injury vehicle crashes. In one incident, officers responded to a non-injury traffic crash at the intersection of Sherman and 13th Street. A passenger in the crash had an outstanding warrant for their arrest and was lodged at NORCOR. In the other, two vehicles crashed at the Pacific Avenue/Wood Court intersection. Both needed tows.
Officers conducted a traffic stop in which the driver was found to have a suspended license. Their vehicle was towed. In the same incident, a National Forest Service Ranger advised they had probable cause for arrest and took the male into custody.
Officers arrested two people for public indecency.
The Dalles Police, July 17 - 26
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Charge not listed (one), disorderly conduct (two), probation violation (one), theft (one), trespass (two), warrant (two), unauthorized entry into motor vehicle (one).
Notable incidents
Eighteen animal calls. Dogs at large, lost dogs, deer hit by car, dog in hot car, dog attacking dog. In one incident, six deer were killed near the caller’s 10th Street property. In another, a cow appeared outside the fence next to a church near Oregon Veteran’s Home. The cow was secured by its owner. In another incident, officers with a drone were unable to locate a cougar reported on Scenic Drive.
A missing person report was taken. The missing person was located and returned home.
Six mental health calls.
Eight theft reports. Online fraud, cold theft of wine bottle, hacked Mychart and Verizon accounts, bike, wallet (two incidents), lemonade, boots.
A fully-masked person, dressed in black, confronted and filmed staff exiting a ship at the boat dock on Boat Basin Road. Staff requested police presence, not wanting the elderly disembarking passengers to get upset. The person, acting as a First Amendment “auditor,” returned on at least two different days, “yelling and cussing” at exiting passengers in an attempt to provoke reactions to film. Officers advised that the person was legally exercising their constitutional rights to stand on the sidewalk and film, but offered to be in the area before emergencies called them away.
Two hit-and-run reports. A person stated they were hit by a white Ford while walking at Court/Ninth Street, resulting in knee pain. Other location was Home Depot parking lot.
A person reported receiving a scam text from a private number. The scam involved a false warrant for the person’s arrest. They reported it.
Four vehicle crash reports. A Saturn Ion and Subaru Outback crashed downtown. One driver was cited. In another incident, a street sweeper tipped on its side on Washington Street, with a person trapped inside. Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue also responded. The person was extracted unhurt, but requested medical for back pain. In another incident, a vehicle hit a person on a bicycle at West Sixth/Snipes. The bicyclist was able to get up. The fourth report was a collision on West 10th/Chenowith.
Officers assisted Hood River Police, who entered a stolen vehicle on Bridge Street on July 22. When the vehicle was stolen it contained an AR 15 with 80 rounds and a 100-round drum. The firearm and the registered owner’s wallet were stolen.
An overdose was reported. Officers responded and administered a narcan dose.
An unattended death.
Wasco County Sheriff, July 18 - 25
Notable incidents
Deputies stopped 44 vehicles.
Unauthorized use of motor vehicle was logged from Celilo Village Road.

Oregon State Police, July 19 - 25
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Driving while suspended or revoked (one), DUII (five), elude (one), reckless driving (two), reckless endangering (two), unlawful possession of a firearm (one).
Notable incidents
Five DUII arrests. In one incident, personnel for multiple law enforcement agencies stopped a brown Acura MDX, after receiving a complaint of the vehicle swerving across the road and almost crashing multiple times. A trooper located the vehicle, saw it serving out of its lane, and attempted a stop. The vehicle failed to yield, then pulled to the shoulder, then took off at high speed. The trooper pursued it for about 20 miles, before it pulled over again. Other agencies assisted at the high-risk stop. Then the Acura drove off again, and the trooper used a “pursuit halting technique” to get it to stop. The driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested on five separate charges.
An injury crash. OSP responded to a single-vehicle crash with minor injuries on July 22, after the driver of a silver Nissan Titan fell asleep near southbound milepost 2 on Highway 197. Their pickup crossed the northbound lane, went into a field and through a wire fence. The vehicle was towed.
A misdemeanor suspended driver, stopped by OSP, requested they seize a handgun for destruction.
A non-injury crash. A dump truck and trailer stopped at the top of an Exit 87 off-ramp, waiting for traffic to clear before making a right-hand turn. A silver Toyota Tundra passed on the shoulder, also making a right-hand turn. Both turned at the same time, and collided. Both were driveable.
A hit-and-run report. A bronze sedan crashed into a guardrail on the off-ramp of Exit 63 eastbound, then left the scene before officers’ arrival.
A trooper attempted to stop two southbound motorcycles passing vehicles on the Biggs bridge, after locating them near milepost 97 westbound on I-84. One indicated it was stopping, then continued westbound until found and stopped by Wasco County Sheriff’s Office. One driver was cited. The other was suspended, uninsured and driving over 100 mph, and their motorcycle was impounded.
OSP and Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue responded to a semi-truck fire. The fire was only in the vehicle’s cab, and the truck partially blocked the westbound on-ramp at Memaloose Rest Area. It was towed.
