A call for something suspicious in White Salmon Jan. 22 turned out to be a piece of bark stuck in a tree.
Two non-injury vehicle crashes. In one incident, an adult driver from White Salmon was cited for unlawful emerging from driveway Jan. 23.
Four animal calls. Dogs at large, injured deer. In one incident, officers were unable to locate the reported wildlife in White Salmon Jan. 24.
One theft report from Bingen Jan. 24, investigation ongoing.
One violation of court order reported from White Salmon.
Hood River Sheriff, Jan. 1 - 31
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Charge not listed (one), disorderly conduct (one), driving while suspended (one), DUII (one), fail to perform duties of a driver (one), parole violation (one), unlawful possession of controlled substance (one), violation of no contact agreement (one).
Notable incidents
Ten non-injury crash reports. Locations included Dee Highway near Bassler, Odell Highway, I-84, Highway 282, Dethman Ridge Road, and Highway 35. In one incident, a deputy looking for suspicious individuals on Stonegate Drive backed up into a rock, damaging their bumper.
Five theft reports, including theft by deception, stolen vehicle, identity theft, theft of gas and gas cans.
Three burglary reports. Locations include Cascade Locks and Westcliff Drive. In one incident, two tablets were stolen from a residence on Massee Grade.
Deputies responded to two unattended deaths.
One hit and run report.
One fraud complaint.
A firearm was surrendered to the Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 9.
A stolen trailer was recovered.

Hood River Police, Jan. 21 - 27
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: DUII (four), driving while suspended (one), trespass (five), violation of a no contact order (one), warrant (four).
Notable incidents
Five trespass arrests. In one incident, a resident of Hood River was arrested on charges of trespass and violation of no contact order.
Four DUII arrests. In one incident, a Portland resident was arrested on the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. A subsequent breath test revealed a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit.
Two theft reports. Shoplifting and a large package stolen from the porch of a residence.
Two non-injury vehicle crashes. In one incident, a semi-truck driver struck a speed limit sign near an Oakland Street business.
Two fraud reports. In one incident, officers were contacted by a Hood River resident regarding fraud against them in Virginia.
Code Enforcement cited eight residents for short-term rental violations involving four properties.
One recovered stolen vehicle report.
A report was taken for damage to a patrol car.
Hood River Police, Jan. 28 - Feb. 3
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Assault of a public safety officer (one), disorderly conduct (one), driving under the influence of intoxicants (six), driving while suspended (one), providing false information (one), reckless driving (one), reckless endangering (one), resisting arrest (one), theft (three), trespass (one), unlawful entry into a motor vehicle (two), warrant (four).
Notable incidents
Six DUII arrests. In one incident, officers arrested a non-resident at NORCOR on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless endangerment and reckless driving. A breath test revealed a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit.
Four theft reports. Stolen wallet, identity theft, shoplifting, a car battery from vehicle.
Four warrant arrests. In one incident, a resident of Turner, Ore., was arrested and lodged at NORCOR on charges of driving while suspended, providing false information to a peace officer, and 13 different jurisdictional warrants.
A arrested for disorderly conduct was placed on a peace officer hold at an area hospital.
Four hit and run reports. One incident involved the hit and run of a decorative tree and parked vehicle near Columbia Cliff Villas Jan. 30.
A burglary report from a local business Feb. 1.
The Dalles Police, Feb. 2 - 9
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Domestic menacing (one), improper use of 911 (one), parole and probation detainer (one), probation violation (one), restraining order violation (two), trespass (three), unlawful entry into motor vehicle (one), warrant (five).
Notable incidents
A person was arrested for robbery after punching another person and taking their bags of cans.
Sixteen mental health calls.
Eleven animal calls. Dog trespassing, dogs at large, twin Siamese kittens found in a wheel at Fred Meyer, dogs barking, cat questions.
Six theft reports. Battery and tools from a stored RV on Seventh, battery from bumper pole trailer, beer, stolen vehicle (two incidents), backpack.
Three vehicle crash reports. In one incident, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on W. Sixth and Hostetler. Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue also responded to a white van and a truck and trailer blocking Hostetler. A tow was requested. In another incident, a motorized bike vs. auto crash was reported on Sixth. Victim and bike were transported home by county deputies. In another incident, a driver crossed the 10th and H Street intersection and hit another eastbound vehicle, causing it to spin out and crash into a fence.
One missing person report.
A caller reported a person who “just came to the bank and demanded money” on Third Street Feb. 5. The reporting party stated it seemed like he was trying to rob them. The person slipped a note across the counter that said “get money” and did not have a credit or debit card. The person allegedly stated, “I am here to steal your money.” The manager intervened, and the person left the bank. Staff said they didn’t feel threatened. Officers requested a drone, and were unable to locate the person.
One vandalism report for a smashed window.
A report was taken for assault and robbery after a silver Chrysler was stolen Jan. 9 near Ninth Street.
Wasco County Sheriff, Feb. 2 - 8
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Warrant (two).
Notable incidents
Five animal calls. Dogs at large, two black-and-white fluffy dogs killed a chicken on Chenowith, horse at large, barking dogs.
Deputies assisted Mosier with a car on fire on Sevenmile Road. The car was put out by a passerby with a fire extinguisher; the driver self-extricated. Deputies assisted with traffic control. Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue also responded.
A vehicle on Pleasant Ridge, stuck in the snow, asked for a tow. The occupants had no service to call a tow themselves. Two friends came out, and also became stuck. A responding deputy also became stuck. Deputies assisted with getting them all unstuck, and the call was changed to a search-and-rescue. An hour later, the original two callers had been located, assisted out of the woods, and given a ride.
A search and rescue was toned for an ATV stuck in snow.
A caller on Threemile called in a loud thump, but came to believe it was a large owl hitting a window, due to marks on the glass.
Oregon State Police, Feb. 3 - 9
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: DUII (four), reckless driving (one), reckless endangering person (one), resisting arrest (one).
Notable incidents
Four DUII arrests. In one incident, troopers responded to multiple reports of a wrong-way driver on I-84. The suspect vehicle was located parked on the right shoulder just moments later. The driver admitted to wrong-way driving, showed signs of impairment, and was arrested for multiple charges. In another incident, a Sherman deputy stopped a speeding car that claimed they were trying to get cell coverage to report a vehicle off the road. A trooper located a vehicle in Wasco County which had left the road and stuck in a gravel embankment; the passed-out driver woke up, was intoxicated and ultimately arrested on two charges.
Three non-injury crashes. In one incident, a black Tesla, northbound on Highway 35 near milepost 63, swerved to avoid another vehicle that crossed the center line. The Tesla hit a snowbank before crashing down onto the highway, sustaining damage.
One hit and run. An ODOT employee found a damaged guardrail with no vehicle in sight, during the snowstorm on Jan. 23. On Feb. 7 they discovered debris and a front license plate at the site. A trooper followed up with the registered owner. Charges forwarded to the District Attorney for consideration.
