This week volunteers at Adopt A Dog have selected Lucille as the program’s adoptable pet of the week:
What a nice girl, this little Lucille is! We were going to name her “Precious,” but she doesn’t like to brag. She’s about 2 years old, 20 pounds, and our best guess of breed is Schipperke and Chihuahua. She’d be a fun one to have DNA tested. Whatever she is, everyone knows Lucille is a calm, quiet dog with oodles of charm and beauty.
She is timid when you first meet her, but she’s quickly learned time with our volunteers means lots of hugs and treats, and even a walk around the neighborhood. And she’s not one of those go-crazy walkers. She likes to stop here and there ... maybe catch a good sniff of something ... maybe lie around in some cool grass for a bit. No hurry at all! And she loves to be carried.
Lucille is a perfect lap dog, too. As long as there’s a snuggle or pet, she’s happy to just hang out and relax. She’s great with other dogs, big and small ... but she prefers ones her own size. The big dogs make her a little nervous ... of course, the way they jump and romp in circles around her might have something to do with that, but she just goes off on her own and watches from afar.
We all love this girl, and know you will too! Because of her timidness, we aren’t recommending her to a home with small children. Lucille is current on shots, microchipped and spayed. The adoption fee for Lucille is $195. The fee to adopt is charged to recoup standard veterinary expenses. Since many of our dogs are in foster, PLEASE CALL AHEAD to meet Lucille in Odell at the Hukari Animal Shelter, 3910 Heron Drive, or call for more information at 541-354-1083.
