THE GORGE — The Historic Highway is closed to through-traffic near Multnomah Falls until Memorial Day 2025 for repairs to the viaducts. Vehicles traveling eastbound will be turned around at the Wahkeena Falls Trailhead before reaching the lodge. Westbound vehicles will be turned around at the Multnomah Falls Lodge. Other sections of the Historic Highway will remain open during construction.
Access to Multnomah Falls is still available from the I-84 lot or by transit such as the Columbia Gorge Express which runs seven times a day between Portland and Hood River with stops at Multnomah Falls each way.
History museum needs committee members
HOOD RIVER — The History Museum of Hood River County is looking for volunteers to serve on its development and fundraising committee, as well as to help the museum with marketing and grants. Committee members would help with fundraising efforts, including planning events and recruiting individual and business sponsors, and/or finding and applying for grants. Economic Symposium coming
THE DALLES — The 2024 Columbia Gorge Economic Symposium is set for Friday, Nov. 1 at The Dalles Civic Auditorium, 323 E. Fourth St. Parking is on the street.
Networking and breakfast begin at 8 a.m., with programs running from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Topics include a keynote speech from Washington’s Director of USDA rural development, a panel on the Gorge Main Sreet business program, and another panel on climate impacts to Gorge agriculture.
