Drive Clean Indiana’s Executive Director Carl Lisek announced a major win for the Hoosier State’s electric vehicle (EV) future. GOEVIN (Go Electric Vehicle Indiana), a statewide initiative supporting EV adoption, has awarded more than $3.3 million in funding to support the expansion of public EV charging infrastructure across Indiana. The momentous announcement was made on August 5, 2025.
This round of funding supports 36 new EV charging projects, 18 DC fast charging (DCFC) sites, and 18 Level 2 charging installations, representing a powerful step toward closing Indiana’s EV infrastructure gaps.
Strategic Investment in Clean Transportation
GOEVIN’s Charging Infrastructure Funding Opportunity, which closed June 30, 2025, received more than 95 intake forms, a clear signal of strong interest from public and private sectors alike. This wave of funding prioritizes high-impact, publicly accessible charging infrastructure that will make EV ownership more practical and appealing for Indiana residents and travelers.
The 18 awarded DCFC projects will be strategically placed along Indiana’s Designated Alternative Fuel Corridors, offering 24/7 access at travel centers, restaurants, and shopping hubs. These high-speed chargers are key for long-distance EV travel and will significantly boost driver confidence across the state.
Meanwhile, the 18 Level 2 charging projects will serve urban and rural communities alike. Designed for locations with longer dwell times, like workplaces, retail centers, and civic hubs, these chargers expand the utility and convenience of EVs for everyday use. They also showcase Indiana’s commitment to both equitable access and strategic deployment.
All selections are currently conditional, and no contracts have been finalized, yet this announcement marks a strong forward push for clean mobility statewide.
Driving Indiana’s Clean Energy Future
“The GOEVIN awards build upon the currently deployed charging infrastructure in the GOEVIN program,” said Ryan Lisek, Program Director at Drive Clean Indiana. “Indiana has invested over $13 billion to support the development of electric vehicles and battery manufacturing facilities. These GOEVIN investments will support the next generation of Hoosier EV drivers.”
The announcement builds on momentum from the GOEVIN: Closing the Gap Tour, which made stops in Evansville, Clarksville, Indianapolis, Muncie, South Bend, Fort Wayne, Lafayette, and Hammond earlier this summer. The tour served as a call to action for local governments, fleet managers, and residents to work together to fill in critical EV infrastructure gaps and make clean transportation more accessible.
Construction Begins This Fall
GOEVIN anticipates that construction on all projects will begin this fall, with completion slated for the end of 2026. The initiative demonstrates not only Indiana’s readiness to support EV adoption but also its leadership in laying the foundation for a cleaner, more connected transportation future.
